NOCD Expands into the U.K., Advancing our Global Mission

At NOCD, we’ve always been on a clear mission: To create a world where anyone can access effective OCD therapy, no matter where they live or how much money they make. With an estimated 180 million people around the world struggling with OCD, the need for treatment is dire. Unfortunately, OCD therapy is usually difficult to access, meaning many people can’t get the help they need to get better.

We made great strides in changing this by providing critical care to more people with OCD in 2020 when NOCD Therapy became accessible in every state in the U.S.; and now, in 2021, we’re setting our sights on global expansion. Today, we’re proud to announce that we’ve taken a huge step towards achieving that mission with our official launch into the United Kingdom.

Globally, about 1 in 40 (roughly 2%) people live with OCD, with potentially many more suffering in silence. A high number of those – about 50% of all these cases – fall into the severe category. Yet, there are often long waitlists to get treatment.

We’re working to change that. Now, anyone in the U.K. who has OCD can sign up for NOCD Therapy to begin working with an OCD therapist trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy through face-to-face video sessions. Our goal is to get you connected with a therapist as soon as possible after signing up. Today, more than 90% of people with OCD are seen within 2 weeks of booking their first appointment with NOCD.

Gone are the days where people in the U.S. and now in the U.K. can’t access ERP therapy because they live in an area where there aren’t enough qualified therapists that specialize in ERP, or where OCD specialists don’t have availability for months. It’s an accomplishment made possible by our team’s hard work and the many people in the community who have supported us over the years.

Still, our work at NOCD is just getting started. We continue to break new ground in the field of mental health care and hope to reach every country around the globe, to help people with OCD regain their lives.

If you or a loved one would like to learn more about working with a NOCD Therapist from anywhere in the U.S. or the U.K., book a free 15-minute call with our team, and we’d be happy to share more information with you.

Network Clinical Training Director

I started as a therapist over 14 years ago, working in different mental health environments. Many people with OCD that weren't being treated for it crossed my path and weren't getting better. I decided that I wanted to help people with OCD, so I became an OCD therapist, and eventually, a clinical supervisor. I treated people using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and saw people get better day in and day out. I continue to use ERP because nothing is more effective in treating OCD.

I’ve been practicing as a licensed therapist for over twenty five years. My main area of focus is OCD with specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy. I use ERP to treat people with all types of OCD themes, including aggressive, taboo, and a range of other unique types.

Director of Therapist Engagement

When I started treating OCD, I quickly realized how much this type of work means to me because I had to learn how to be okay with discomfort and uncertainty myself. I’ve been practicing as a licensed therapist since 2016. My graduate work is in mental health counseling, and I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy because it’s the gold standard of OCD treatment.
